GET IT IN WRITING !  Anyone who has used me as their lawyer knows I say this all the time.

Civil Law is all about Contracts; Agreements; and Settlements.  It does matter if it's for your business matters or your Personal life.

You need the right Legal Document.

If you can't pin down the deal, you're sure to have trouble down the road.

Both parties want to say yes.  One side wants the job done, the other side wants to make money. Seems simple, yet contracts break down all the time.  QUESTION? Will you get what you've bargained for?  Oftentimes not.  You find that out too late and get stuck with tough decisions.  Pay for what you got, walk away, try to settle or sue.

The terms of most contracts shift over time.  Make notes.  Okay so writing on toilet paper is not a good idea, but for a contract it's better than nothing.  Make notes in your date book, on your cell, send yourself a message.  These are all "Business Record Exceptions" and are good evidence to support your interpretation of the revised contract terms.

When it really matters is when each side no longer agrees on who's responsible for what. 

This is where I come in.  Having drafted, reviewed and litigated hundreds of contracts I have the experience to spot trouble down the line.

I offer two different types of services. 

The most familiar: You come in to tell me  about your proposed contract. I point out potential pitfalls and areas of liability.  With my guidance you then decide how you want to structure your contract and what protections you feel are essential. I talk to the attorney on the other side.  We all agree on terms that both sides are satsified with, and I draft a final contract for signatures.

Another common approach: You know what you want in a contract.  In that case both sides can come in talk to me.  I act as a kind of scribe.  I formalize the terms you have agreed on, I might point out some items you need to include, and I draft a contract for signatures.
